White Sox announce special guests attending Paul Konerko day on Saturday

Former White Sox Notables To Attend Pregame Tribute Commemorating Konerko's Storied Career; Team Honoring Retiring Captain With "Club Konerko" Seating Section And Giveaways

CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox announced a list of former players scheduled to appear at a special pregame tribute honoring retiring captain and franchise legend Paul Konerko on Saturday, September 27, when the team is scheduled to take on Kansas City at 6:10 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early.

Konerko has played with an impressive list of well-known former White Sox players. Teammates from the 2005 World Series Championship team scheduled to attend Saturday's pregame ceremony include Brian Anderson, Joe Crede, Ross Gload, Scott Podsednik and Cliff Politte. White Sox special assistant to the general manager and former Sox slugger Jim Thome is scheduled to appear, along with Chris Getz, Mark Kotsay, Sean Lowe and Craig Wilson. Several of Konerko's friends and family also will be in attendance.

The pregame ceremony will feature memorable presentations with these special guests, as well as video tributes that celebrate Konerko's career as a member of the White Sox and his legacy off the field. The ceremony also will include a presentation of gifts to the retiring captain. 

Throughout the month of September, the White Sox have honored Konerko with special fan giveaways for each home game. The month-long celebration includes the creation of "Club Konerko" in Sections 158 and 159 (total of 1,176 seats). Fans who purchase tickets in one of the two designated sections for any remaining game will receive a special Paul Konerko collectible and "Thank You, Paulie" sign to be picked up at the Chicago Sports Depot before the game. Konerko has played 16 seasons with the White Sox. The six-time American League All-Star is the franchise leader in total bases (4,008). As of September 22, Konerko's 432 homers with Chicago rank second behind Hall-of-Famer Frank Thomas (448) for the franchise record, while he ranks third in hits (2,290) and doubles (406). The 38-year-old has seen 36,599 pitches at the plate throughout his major league career.
