White Sox Option Zach Stewart to Class AAA Charlotte

Recall Dylan Axelrod from Charlotte

Prior to tonight’s game vs. the Cubs, the Chicago White Sox optioned right-handed pitcher Zach Stewart to Class AAA Charlotte and recalled right-hander Dylan Axelrod from Charlotte.
 
Axelrod, 26, went 5-4 with a 3.18 ERA (24 ER/68.0 IP) and 66 strikeouts in 11 starts with the Knights this season.  He was with the White Sox from April 27-May 5, going 0-1 with a 3.52 ERA (3 ER/7.2 IP) in three appearances (one start).
 
Axelrod, 6-foot-0 and 190 pounds, has gone 1-1 with a 3.08 ERA (9 ER/26.1 IP) and 25 strikeouts in seven games (four starts) over two major-league seasons with the Sox (2011-12).  He will wear uniform No. 39.
 
Stewart, 25, is 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA (20 ER/30.0 IP) in 18 games (one start) this season.  He took the loss last night vs. the Cubs, allowing six runs on nine hits (four home runs) over 5.2 IP in his first start of the season.
