Avisail injured while attempting to make diving catch

DENVER -- White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia left Wednesday game in the sixth after making an unsuccessful attempt to catch a low liner hit by the Rockies' DJ LeMahieu. The two-out hit scored Justin Morneau to tie the game at 4.

Garcia charged the ball and had it in the webbing of his glove after hitting the ground and rolling over before the ball fell out of his glove. White Sox manager Robin Ventura did not challenge the ruling of a hit. Garcia was in pain as he rolled on the ground and was favoring his left shoulder as he left the field with Ventura and trainer Herm Schneider.

"I didn't catch it," Garcia said. "When I touched the ground with my hand, it fell out. I felt the bone in my shoulder [go] like crack, crack."

Initial X-rays of the jammed left shoulder were negative for fracture, separation or dislocation., and he will be evaluated in Chicago on Thursday, when the club begins a four-game series against the Indians.

"Hopefully, I'm going to be in the field soon," Garcia said. "I feel right now a lot of pain, sore, too. Let's see what happens tomorrow."

In the fourth inning, Garcia made a similar catch to rob LeMahieu of a hit.
