White Sox players visit local firehouse

John Danks, Brent Morel and Addison Reed to Visit with Some of ‘Chicago’s Bravest’

Chicago White Sox pitchers John Danks and Addison Reed, along with third basemen Brent Morel, will visit a local Chicago Fire Department firehouse on Thursday, January 26.  The three players will visit Engine 18 at 1360 S. Blue Island Ave.

The players, who will be joined by White Sox mascot Southpaw, will tour the firehouse, present the firefighters and their families with autographed caps and baseballs and pose for photos.  Their visit is scheduled from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

“This is just a fun way to get out in to the community during SoxFest week and show our appreciation for the men and women of the Chicago Fire Department, who risk so much in the name of our safety,” said Christine O’Reilly, White Sox senior director of community relations.

“Our firehouses are anchors of the community and our doors are always open,” said Fire Commissioner Robert Hoff.   “We are honored to have these members of our great White Sox come by and spend some time. ”

Danks, Morel and Reed will be joined by teammates and staff at SoxFest this weekend from January 25-27 at the Palmer House Hilton.  SoxFest hotel packages, weekend passes, two-day passes, Saturday-only and Sunday-only passes are available for purchase at whitesox.com.

Complete information on SoxFest 2012 is available at whitesox.com/soxfest or by calling the SoxFest hotline at (312) 609-1915.
