Left oblique strain lands Bonifacio on DL
The White Sox have placed infielder Emilio Bonifacio on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain and recalled infielder Leury Garcia from Triple-A Charlotte.
Bonifacio is hitting .169 this year in 45 games after signing as a free agent this winter.
Garcia was also with the White Sox while Bonifacio was on the bereavement list last Thursday through Saturday. Garcia went 1-for-1 on Thursday against the Indians in his only appearance.
Garcia is hitting .296 with 15 doubles, one triple, one home run, 24 RBIs, 40 runs scored and 28 stolen bases in 75 games with Charlotte this year, leading the International League in stolen bases.
