Jacobs sent to D-backs to complete three-team deal

The White Sox on Friday sent Minor League outfielder Brandon Jacobs to the D-backs as the player to be named in Tuesday's trade that brought Adam Eaton to Chicago.

In the three-team deal, the White Sox acquired Eaton from the D-backs in exchange for left-handed pitcher Hector Santiago and a player to be named or cash considerations. Arizona then traded Santiago and left-hander Tyler Skaggs to the Los Angeles Angels in return for outfielder Mark Trumbo and a player to be named or cash considerations.

As for Jacobs, the 23-year-old hit .244 with 13 homers, 66 RBIs and 59 runs scored in 127 games between Class A Salem and Double-A Portland within the Red Sox organization and Double-A Birmingham in the White Sox system. Jacobs, who was ranked seventh on Chicago's Top 20 Prospects, according to MLB.com, was acquired from Boston in the July 12 trade that sent reliever Matt Thornton to the Red Sox.
