Rodon to be promoted to Class A on Wednesday

DETROIT -- Carlos Rodon will be assigned to Class A Winston-Salem before the Dash's Wednesday afternoon game against Frederick, and the left-hander will pitch one inning in relief.

Rodon was the team's top pick and third selection overall in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, while recently being named by MLB.com as the club's top prospect in the midseason rankings and 23rd in all of baseball. Rodon made two appearances for the Arizona Rookie League White Sox, allowing two runs on four hits over three innings, with five strikeouts and no walks.

There is a possibility that Rodon, 21, could follow the Chris Sale development path and work in relief for the White Sox during the same season in which he was drafted.
