Myers returns to DL with wrist inflammation

The Padres once again placed outfielder Wil Myers on the 15-day disabled list on Monday due to the ongoing inflammation in his left wrist. The move is retroactive to Sunday.

San Diego also recalled right-hander Cory Mazzoni from Triple-A El Paso to take Myers' place on the active roster.

As for Myers, the 24-year-old outfielder had been out since May 10 with the same injury before returning last Thursday. He played just three games before sitting out on Sunday's contest and ultimately landing back on the DL on Monday.

Myers is hitting .277/.327/.459 with five homers and 19 RBIs over 35 games in his first season with the Padres.

He said after returning last week that he anticipates eventually needing offseason surgery to remove a bone spur from the troublesome wrist, though he didn't think it wouldn't be a necessity during the season.

It's unclear at this point how long Myers will be sidelined with this latest setback or what the plan will be going forward.
