With Lannan on DL, Phillies have yet to name starter

PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies still haven't revealed who their starting pitcher will be for Monday night's game against the Pirates, as a result of a vacancy created when left-hander John Lannan was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left knee.

Manager Charlie Manuel said a couple factors will be involved.

"Probably who they feel like is pitching the best at Triple-A or who is best suited for it," Manuel said. "Who we're playing might have something to do with it, too."

The situation is complicated for a couple reasons. Based strictly on stats, left-hander Adam Morgan (1-0, 1.42 ERA) has had the most success early for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. But Morgan pitched Thursday and isn't on the 40-man roster.

Jonathan Pettibone would be pitching on his regular turn, but is 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA in two starts. Tyler Cloyd hasn't pitched since last Monday, but is 0-2, 7.07. And Ethan Martin and B.J. Rosenberg were both scheduled to pitch in the IronPigs' doubleheader against Buffalo on Saturday night.

However, it may or may not be significant that Zach Miner started the nightcap instead of Rosenberg (0-0, 6.00).
