Giants loaded up for another title run

With Opening Day lineup all but set, Giants tweaking roster ahead of Spring Training

SAN FRANCISCO -- Befitting a reigning World Series champion, the Giants approach Spring Training knowing that they have the luxury of fine-tuning their roster instead of scrambling to fill it.

Manager Bruce Bochy already has formed a tentative Opening Day lineup, leaving him to spend a significant portion of the Cactus League schedule experimenting with batting orders.

The starting rotation isn't completely set, since Matt Cain and Tim Hudson are recovering from surgeries. But nobody within the organization seems to be worried about Cain and his mended right elbow. And even if Hudson's right ankle isn't healed by Opening Day, the Giants have Ryan Vogelsong and Yusmeiro Petit ready to step in.

No Spring Training would be complete without competition. The Giants won't have much more than a bench spot or a bullpen berth up for grabs.

The Giants' Spring Training preview continues with a list of players who are projected to occupy key roles.
