Worth noting

• Three veteran relievers each allowed two runs while working an inning apiece as the Giants squandered a 7-2 lead and emerged with an 8-8 tie Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels. Manager Bruce Bochy cited the numerous defensive mistakes and elevated pitches that doomed Santiago Casilla in the seventh inning, Jose Mijares in the eighth and Sergio Romo in the ninth. But Bochy reminded reporters that it's still February and said, "I'm not concerned."

• Buster Posey was out of the lineup for the second straight game but is not injured and will catch Thursday against Seattle, Bochy said. Bochy added that Posey probably will play first base or serve as the designated hitter in one of Saturday's split-squad games against the Cubs and Royals.

• General manager Brian Sabean announced four promotions for top members of his baseball operations staff. Dick Tidrow, formerly vice president of player personnel, became vice president and assistant general manager, player personnel. Bobby Evans was elevated from vice president, baseball operations to vice president and assistant general manager. John Barr, previously special assistant to the general manager in charge of scouting, is now a vice president and assistant general manager of scouting and international operations. And Jeremy Shelley, formerly senior director of baseball operaions and pro scouting, has become a vice president of pro scouting and player evaluation.
