Worth noting

• The Rangers went into Saturday's split-squad doubleheader having not committed an error in their last eight games. The last error was a throwing error by pitcher Alexi Ogando on March 6.

• Washington is becoming impressed with Yangervis Solarte's ability to play shortstop and it could mean the Rangers have found their utility infielder. "He has been surprising me," Washington said. "He has been doing all right. He has been working at it and it's paying off."

• The Rangers still have 58 players in camp, including the three players still in the World Baseball Classic: Leury Garcia, Cruz and Jurickson Profar. The Rangers will likely start trimming their roster after they return from Las Vegas.

• Rangers CEO Nolan Ryan threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Saturday's game in Las Vegas. Rangers Minor League infielder Joey Gallo, who is from Las Vegas and on the trip as a reserve, caught the pitch. Gallo actually caught four ceremonial pitches, including three from local celebrities.
