• Third baseman Chase Headley (injured left thumb) wasn't the only player to return to San Diego on Monday to visit hand specialist Lorenzo Pacelli. Reliever Nick Vincent, a right-hander, has been sidelined with soreness in his right wrist/forearm for a while.

• Left fielder Carlos Quentin, who had six plate appearances in a Minor League game on Sunday, played again in a Minor League game Monday, going 3-for-6 with a home run and two singles. Quentin, who has been nursing a sore right knee, could appear in a game sometime this week.
