Worth noting

• Left fielder Carlos Quentin, slowed recently by a sore right knee, got 12 plate appearances over the last two days in Minor League games. He wasn't initially scheduled to play Tuesday, though Padres manager Bud Black said that could change. There's still no timetable as to when Quentin will play in a Cactus League game.

• Padres Minor League outfielder Anthony Renteria, the son of bench coach Rick Renteria, was in uniform for Tuesday's game against the D-backs. Renteria, drafted in the 39th round in 2012, was one of several players pulled over from Minor League camp to appear as an extra if the team needs it. Renteria hit .269 in 17 games last season for the Padres entry in the Arizona League.

• The Padres made a Minor League trade on Tuesday, sending Minor League infielder Jose Dore to the Cubs for cash considerations or a player to be named later. Dore, an eighth-round Draft pick in 2010, hit .222 in his first three seasons in the Padres system. Also, the Padres released left-handed pitcher Jeremy Gould. Gould spent last season pitching in the Mets organization.
