Worth noting

• Outfielder Michael Saunders was one of 12 players named Wednesday to the 2013 MetLife All-World Baseball Classic team for his outstanding performance for Team Canada. Saunders hit .727 (8-for-11) with a home run and seven RBIs in three Classic games.

Dominican Republic second baseman Robinson Cano was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Also named were catcher Yadier Molina, outfielder Angel Pagan and pitcher Nelson Figueroa of Puerto Rico; first baseman Edwin Encarnacion, shortstop Jose Reyes, outfielder Nelson Cruz and pitcher Fernando Rodney of the Dominican Republic; third baseman David Wright of the United States; outfielder Hirokazu Ibata and pitcher Kenta Maeda of Japan.

• Both the Thursday night game against the Cubs at 7:05 p.m. PT and Saturday's 1:05 p.m. contest with the Indians will be televised on ROOT Sports. The other remaining televised game is March 30 against the Rockies in Salt Lake City.

The Mariners' nine remaining spring games will all be carried live on 710 ESPN Seattle and the Mariners Radio Network.

• Heading into Wednesday's Cactus League action, the Mariners still held a wide lead for the most home runs in baseball this spring with 45 in 24 games. The Cubs were the next, with 37 homers in 26 games.

Michael Morse was tied with Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown for the most home runs with six, while Kendrys Morales was in a group of players right behind with five.
