• Rockies catcher Yorvit Torrealba drew his second start of the season Monday against the Giants in place of Wilin Rosario, and for the second time he caught left-hander Jorge De La Rosa. That was no coincidence, Weiss said before the game.

"They've got a good connection," Weiss said. "There will be times when Wilin will catch De La. I just felt early on it's a good feel for De La, and at the same time it keeps Torrey involved."

• With the Rockies facing Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner, left-handed-hitting first baseman Todd Helton was out of the lineup for the second straight game.

"Again, it was one of those situations, we looked at it a few days in advance," Weiss said. "So it was an opportunity to give him back-to-back days off. So he'll be back in there tomorrow."

Right-hander Tim Lincecum is scheduled to pitch for the Giants on Tuesday night.
