Worth noting
• J.J. Hardy got an injection from Angels team doctor Lewis Yocum for what Showalter called a light case of tennis elbow. The shortstop was in the lineup for Tuesday's game.
• The exact status of right-hander Miguel Gonzalez still isn't known, although it looks like his start could be pushed back a few days. Gonzalez is battling blister/callous problems on his right thumb. He's scheduled to take his work day Thursday, possibly even Wednesday, and Showalter said the Orioles will take a look at things then.
"We've got two or three scenarios in place. We can push him back as far as Saturday if we want to, but we'll see," Showalter said.
• The five Oriole starters haven't done so well against the Royals in their careers, posting a combined record of 12-18 with a 5.88 ERA. They're hoping for better success in this series, the only time Kansas City comes to Baltimore in 2013.
