Worth noting

• Cameron Maybin (right wrist) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tucson on Friday and went 1-for-3 with a strikeout. He has been on the disabled list since April 17.

"Cam swung the bat fine and had some good bat speed," Padres manager Bud Black said. "We talked last week about him having somewhere around at least 30 (at-bats) and we'll gauge it from there. We're not going to put a hard number on it. He's been out for five weeks or so and we want to make sure the wrist is fine."

• Catcher Yasmani Grandal, who is serving a 50-game suspension, went 1-for-4 with a run scored for Tucson He is eligible to be activated Tuesday.

• Rookie second baseman Jedd Gyorko tied a rookie club record for home runs in May with five.
