Worth noting

• Shelby Miller, who was knocked out of his start on Friday after 1 2/3 innings, threw an extended bullpen session on Sunday in order to give him more time to work on some slight mechanical adjustments. Miller, who usually throws about 20 pitches during his side sessions, estimated that he threw 35 this time.

• The Cardinals are slated to face the following starting pitchers during their upcoming series in Anaheim: Jered Weaver (1-4, 4.15 ERA), Jerome Williams (5-3, 3.21 ERA) and Joe Blanton (2-10, 5.07 ERA). The series will mark the end of Interleague Play for the Cardinals until the Mariners make a September visit to St. Louis.

• Though he was tagged with the loss, right-hander Carlos Martinez made a quality start for Triple-A Memphis on Saturday. Martinez was charged with two earned runs on four hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out five and threw 90 pitches.
