Worth noting

• The Orioles acquired Minor League right-hander Tim Alderson from Pittsburgh in exchange for infielder Russ Canzler, who was designated for assignment on July 6. Alderson is 3-1 with a 2.79 ERA in 22 relief appearances for Triple-A Indianapolis this season with 38 strikeouts and 10 walks, and he will report to Norfolk.

• It appears Chris Dickerson (left shoulder) will be able to avoid the disabled list. Dickerson, a late scratch from Wednesday's lineup, tested his swing on Thursday and reported feeling better, with no plans for an MRI. He was available on Friday, but did not play.

• Nate and Lindsay McLouth will be "going to bat for BARCS" by helping to promote shelter pet adoptions on Monday from 4-6 p.m. ET at the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) located at 301 Stockholm St., in Baltimore. Anyone taking a tour of the shelter while Nate and Lindsay are volunteering will receive an autograph from Nate.
