Worth noting

• Lefty Brett Anderson (right foot) came out of Monday's bullpen session without any issues, putting him on target to throw another one in Houston on Wednesday. He'll make roughly 50 pitches.

Should Anderson forge on without any setbacks, there's a good chance he would be sent on a rehab assignment within the next week or two and return to Oakland's rotation sometime in August.

• Several wives, girlfriends and family members of A's players and coaches are teaming up with Smile Train, an international nonprofit that provides free cleft surgery and care to children in developing countries, to raise enough money to fund one procedure per mile they complete on a treadmill at the Coliseum on Friday.

The treadmill will be stationed adjacent to the left-field BBQ terrace, and an in-game raffle and donation table will be set up behind Section 120. All proceeds will go to Smile Train.

Also, Grant Balfour will participate in an autograph session beginning at 6 p.m. PT prior to the game vs. the Angels. It will be limited to the first 100 fans, who will be asked to donate $40 for a limited edition, signed All-Star Game photo of Balfour.
