Worth noting

• B.J. Upton played catch and took batting practice on the field before Wednesday night's game against the Mets. Upton has been on the disabled list since July 12 with a strained right adductor muscle. If he continues to make progress, he could begin a Minor League rehab assignment early next week.

• Fredi Gonzalez said Jordan Schafer could be cleared to begin swinging a bat and completing some other light baseball activities this weekend. The Braves' medical staff was pleased after reevaluating the stress fracture in Schafer's right foot earlier this week. Still, the backup outfielder will likely be sidelined for at least two more weeks.
