• General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. confirmed that injured starter Roy Halladay will throw a simulated game on Saturday morning. Halladay has been on the disabled list since May after undergoing shoulder surgery.

• Amaro has made a series of waiver moves recently, but he was noncommittal when asked if there could be others coming.

"We'll keep looking through the waiver wire and try to improve our club, but who knows?" he said. "I really don't know. I really couldn't crystal-ball it for you."
