• Class A Advanced right-hander Alec Asher was named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week. He pitched a career-best eight scoreless innings Sunday in a win. He's 4-3 with a 3.35 ERA in nine starts this season.

• Catcher Zach Zaneski has promoted to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. He's been with Double-A Frisco for the last two seasons. He hit .191 with five home runs and 19 RBIs in 45 games this season.

• The Rangers hosted Japan America Friendship Night on Wednesday. Kenchiro Sase, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States, was at the game and threw out the first pitch.
