Worth noting

Jose Fernandez likely has two starts remaining before the team will end the rookie's season as a precaution. Redmond said Wednesday that he has considered moving the 21-year-old's second start back a day or two to give him a final outing at Marlins Park.

"Yeah, we've thought about that," Redmond said. "We're still talking about that, and we'll probably have a better idea of exactly what we're going to do after this next start. See how that start goes and then that'll kind of give us a little bit better plan of what's going to happen down the road."

• The Marlins have drawn 30 walks in their last 74 innings of play entering Wednesday. None of those runners went on to score a run.
