Worth noting

• With the Twins not taking batting practice on the field before Sunday's game, catcher Joe Mauer took BP in the cages. Mauer, who suffered a concussion on a foul tip on Aug. 19, took batting practice on the field on Friday and Saturday. Mauer is continuing to make progress, and it'll be days, not weeks, before he returns, according to Ryan.

• Gardenhire said he's been impressed with right-handed reliever Ryan Pressly this season, but doesn't envision him being shifted to a starting role next year. Pressly, who was acquired in the Rule 5 Draft from the Red Sox, was previously a starter until being converted to a reliever last season. Entering play Sunday, Pressly, 24, has a 3.50 ERA with 44 strikeouts and 25 walks in 69 1/3 innings.

• Arcia hit cleanup for the first time in his big league career on Sunday against the Blue Jays. Arcia, 22, entered the game hitting .256 with 10 homers and 33 RBIs in 81 games.
