Worth noting

Steve Pearce got a cortisone injection in his ailing left wrist on Friday and Showalter hopes he can return for the club relatively soon. Pearce's first eligible date is Thursday, which probably would be a reach, but the club is hopeful he can be added to the expanded roster not long after that.

• Infielder Alexi Liddi cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk.

Nate McLouth stole his 30th base on Saturday, becoming the ninth Oriole to steal 30 or more in a season and give the Orioles their 19th season with at least one player to hit that mark. Second baseman Brian Roberts has a club-record four 30-steal seasons.

• Roberts got the day off from starting Monday in favor of infielder Alexi Casilla. Casilla entered Monday 16-for-31 off Sabathia, and Showalter said this was a good spot to give Roberts a breather with the team having just one more schedule off-day.
