Worth noting

• Twins catcher Joe Mauer, who has been out since Aug. 19 after sustaining a concussion on a foul tip, has stayed at home the last two days on the advice of head trainer Dave Pruemer, according to Twins general manager Terry Ryan. Mauer was able to work out at home on Monday and Tuesday and is expected to work out at Target Field on Wednesday. There's still no timetable for his return.

• After giving up seven runs in the first inning against the White Sox on Monday, the Twins have given up 112 runs in the first inning, which is the highest total in the Majors. The Twins gave up the second-highest total of runs in the first inning last season, when they allowed 125, one less than Boston's 126.

• Pedro Florimon became the first Twins player to be ejected this season, when he was tossed for arguing with home-plate umpire Alfonso Marquez during Monday's game. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has been ejected five times.
