Worth noting

• An exchange of words after Game 3 and Adrian Gonzalez's Mickey Mouse ears gesture in Game 5 has brought the differing personalities of the Cardinals and Dodgers into the spotlight. Several media outlets have described this National League Championship Series as a clash between the old-school Cardinals and the boisterous boys from Hollywood. Manager Mike Matheny, asked again about this dynamic on Thursday, had no interest in extending the narrative.

"Other teams are going to do whatever they need to do in order to prepare themselves and have their guys ready. As far as evaluating clubs, once again, it's our job to evaluate ourselves on a daily basis to make sure we're going about it the way we want to go about it. It's not our right and responsibility to dictate how other teams go about theirs. As far as getting under our guys' skin, our guys want to compete. We're not out there to make friends. We're not out there to do anything except win. That is our job. We'll go about it the way we can, and that's going to be our goal and our initiative."

• The Cardinals will hold a pregame pep rally before Game 6 from 5-7 p.m. CT on Friday in the parking lot of Ballpark Village. The activities will include an autograph session with a former Cardinals player.

• Cardinals outfield prospects James Ramsey and Stephen Piscotty -- both members of the organization's 2012 Draft class -- have gotten off to quick starts in the Arizona Fall League. Ramsey is 6-for-13 with two doubles, a homer, four runs scored and four RBIs in four games with the Salt River Rafters. Piscotty, who has played six games, has nine hits (three for extra bases) in 23 at-bats.
