Worth noting

• The Marlins announced that pitchers Justin Nicolino, Jose Urena, Michael Brady, Nick Wittgren and Colby Suggs will make appearances in Thursday's exhibition game against Florida International University.

• Former Marlins manager Jack McKeon visited camp Monday for the first time this year, having flown from his native New Jersey after three speaking engagements there. A longtime Marlins employee greeted him, heard of his engagements and said, "Still getting paid, Jack?"

McKeon returned: "No, not the third one. That was for the church. That was for God. I've got to pay up for 2003." McKeon's Marlins beat the Yankees in the World Series that year.

• As Jarrod Saltalamacchia spread out, face down and in uniform, on the clubhouse carpet the other day, a clubhouse guest noted that if the Marlins' catcher were short, the "S" and the fifth "A" in his surname probably would disappear into his pants. (The letters are displayed from his belt on the left side of his back to his belt on the right side, and they almost surround his number.)

Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, he of the remarkably broad shoulders walked by, and Saltalamacchia said, "They could put my name on his back, and it'd look like 'Smith.'"
