Worth noting

• Catcher Josmil Pinto, who tweaked his back, is progressing.

"He did the drills [on Tuesday]," Gardenhire said. "Didn't do the throwing. But I think he's better. Kind of take it lightly and go from there. He's moving a little farther forward."

Other than Pinto, Gardenhire said no other players will have restrictions for the intrasquad game on Thursday.

• Right-handers Kevin Correia and Phil Hughes are scheduled to start and go two innings each in Thursday's game. Correia will be followed by Vance Worley (two innings), Trevor May (one), Kris Johnson (one) Logan Darnell (one), and Yohan Pino (one). Hughes will be followed by Kyle Gibson (two), Anthony Swarzak (one), Brooks Raley (one), Lester Oliveros (one), and Deolis Guerra (one).

• Gardenhire was asked if he thought Joe Mauer might attempt more stolen bases this season.

"There'll be opportunities for him," Gardenhire said. "If they're not paying attention, Joe's not afraid to run. I've given him plenty of green lights even as a catcher. He can definitely do it. It's just a matter of how the game's going, how he's going. I don't want to see him kill himself out there. But he's pretty athletic. I don't worry about him. If I give him a stolen base, if I give it to him, he's not afraid to try. He'll run, and he'll pick his pitch out too. We have a lot of trust with him. And I think with being out from behind the plate is going to help him, help his legs.
