Worth noting

• Two Rangers Hall of Famers participated in the ceremonial first pitch on Friday night at the Alamodome with pitcher Ferguson Jenkins tossing it to catcher Ivan Rodriguez.

Adrian Beltre started at designated hitter on Friday night because of the artificial turf of the Alamodome. He has had to deal with a tight left quad muscle in camp, but his hamstrings are always a concern.

Yu Darvish is scheduled to play catch in Arlington on Saturday. If that goes well, he will have another throwing session with pitching coach Mike Maddux on Sunday. That session will start out as long toss and could end up being a bullpen session if all goes well. At that point the Rangers will formulate a plan for Darvish's return, although he is still expected to start on the disabled list with tightness in his neck.
