Worth noting

• Right-hander Brandon Workman got the final spot in the Red Sox's bullpen, which became available when left-hander Craig Breslow was placed on the disabled list.

• Right-hander Francisco Cordero, who tossed eight scoreless innings over eight appearances, was given his release Saturday. The non-roster invitee signed a Minor League contract in February after sitting out last season following shoulder surgery.

• All the remaining non-roster invitees in camp, including left-hander Tommy Brown, right-hander Brayan Villarreal, infielder Mike McCoy and outfielder Corey Brown accepted assignments to Pawtucket.

• Designated hitter David Ortiz sat out Saturday's game with an ailing right calf. He is expected to start Monday.

Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

• The Red Sox and Twins, rivals in Lee County, split their Grapefruit League season series, 3-3.
