Worth noting

Robinson Chirinos started for the second straight game at catcher Wednesday. Washington said that was already planned and had nothing to do with Chirinos hitting a home run and a double on Tuesday night.

• The Rangers turned five double plays in 6 1/3 innings with Martin Perez on the mound Wednesday night. The last pitcher to get as many double plays in as few innings was Dave Otto, who had five in six innings for the Indians on Sept. 13, 1991.

• Pitcher Joe Saunders, who is on the disabled list with a bruised left ankle, flew to Arizona on Wednesday to be with his wife, Shanel, who is expecting the couple's third child.

• The Mariners rotation is in a jumble because of injuries and rainouts but it appears the Rangers will face Felix Hernandez on Wednesday in Arlington.
