Worth noting

• Red-hot Alberto Callaspo, the ex-Angel, remained in the A's lineup for a seventh consecutive start Monday, this time as the DH against left-hander Hector Santiago. Callaspo entered hitting .345 overall, and .400 in his starting streak.

A's hitting instructor Chili Davis, asked if he's changed the switch-hitting infielder any since Callaspo was traded to the A's on July 30 for infielder Grant Green, said not much at all.

"Oh, I get on him to stay in that squat he hits from, and don't come up out of it like he's a big guy," Davis said. "He knows what he should be working on. And he works. He doesn't over-work. He works right. And, he's fun to have on this team."

• Nick Punto, who gave shortstop Jed Lowrie his first day off Sunday, started at second base against the Angels on Monday.
