Worth noting

• In going 0-6 on their road trip, the Tribe dropped consecutive series for the first time in 2014. The six-game skid is the longest since dropping six straight last August.

• The Tribe is 5-4 in series openers heading into Friday, and they have won only one of their last six series.

• Backing up Josh Tomlin's shutout Thursday for Triple-A Columbus were Nyjer Morgan and Justin Sellers, tallying two hits apiece.

• Clint Frazier, the Tribe's first-round Draft pick in 2013, hit his first home run with Class A Lake County on Thursday. Frazier's homer tied the score at 2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Captains fell, 3-2, to West Michigan.

• Heading into Friday, the Indians are the only team not to play in extra innings this season.
