• Pitcher Derek Holland, on the disabled list while recovering from offseason knee surgery, threw another live batting-practice session on Wednesday in Arizona. He will throw again on Monday and then be re-evaluated. The Rangers have seen some improvement in his fielding drills, but Holland is still not at 100 percent.

• Yu Darvish has now lost eight straight to the Athletics. That's tied for the second-longest losing streak against one club. Charlie Hough lost nine straight to the Brewers in 1982-88.

• Luis Sardinas made his first start of the season at third base on Wednesday so that Adrian Beltre could get a day at designated hitter.
