Worth noting

• The Rangers have signed veteran pitcher Jerome Williams to a Minor League contract and assigned him to Triple-A Round Rock. He was 1-4 with a 6.04 ERA in 26 relief outings with the Astros before being released.

• Outfielder Engel Beltre, who has been sidelined since Spring Training because of a fractured fibia in his right leg, has been transferred from Triple-A Round Rock to Double-A Frisco to continue his medical rehab assignment. He was 5-for-47 in 11 games at Round Rock.

Michael Choice went 4-for-8 with a home run in his first two games since being optioned to Round Rock.

• Shortstop Elvis Andrus was back in the lineup on Friday after leaving Thursday's game in the fourth inning. Andrus had to leave after getting spiked in the left foot while turning a double play.
