Worth noting

• Xander Bogaerts received medical clearance on Wednesday and will be activated from the seven-day concussion disabled list on Saturday, Farrell said ahead of the Red Sox's series finale against the Blue Jays.

"He's gone through some running and some throwing. He's on his way to Florida, he'll go through a full work day on Friday and then be ready for Saturday," Farrell said.

Bogaerts was hit in the head by Mariners ace Felix Hernandez on Friday.

• The Red Sox have yet to announce a starter for Friday's series opener against the Rays. Brandon Workman was optioned to Triple-A following a rough outing on Sunday, but the club has yet to fill his spot in the rotation.

No. 5 prospect Anthony Ranaudo, who was named the International League's Most Valuable Pitcher, is a potential candidate to make his third big league start.
