Worth noting

• The Padres made a roster move Saturday, as infielder Chris Nelson went on the paternity leave list, returning home to Georgia to be with his wife.

The team added pitcher Jesse Hahn from Double-A San Antonio. Hahn would have joined the team on Monday when the rosters can expand to 40. Hahn, who is 7-3 in 12 starts for the Padres with a 2.96 ERA, will likely pitch exclusively out of the bullpen the final month of the season to limit his innings.

• The Padres will add several players on Monday and/or Tuesday when the 25-man roster can expand to as many as 40 players.

One player will be infielder Cory Spangenberg, who could join the Padres as soon as Sunday. The team's first-round Draft selection in 2011 has been slowed during his career by two concussions but has flourished with Double-A San Antonio, hitting .331/.365/.470 in 66 games.

He's a second baseman but has played center field and third base. He announced the news of his impending promotion on Twitter.
