Worth noting

• Francona said the team would inquire with Major League Baseball about the possibility of using closer Cody Allen when they play the remainder of an extra-inning game against Kansas City that was suspended on Sunday night. Allen allowed a game-tying homer to Alex Gordon in the ninth, but the Indians regained the lead on Lonnie Chisenhall's two-run double in the 10th.

Kyle Crockett was announced as the Indians' pitcher for the 10th, but he never threw a pitch, as the game was suspended due to weather. The contest will be finished on Sept. 22 at Progressive Field.

"I think we're going to double check with the league, just because of the way the inning unfolded," Francona said. "If I'd known they were going to visit like that, I wouldn't have brought him in. I'm not sure what their obligation is to communicate with us, maybe there is none. But we'll at least check, because if that's the case, we'll put Cody back."

• The Indians' team plane landed in Cleveland around 3:15 a.m. ET on Monday morning after the suspended game in Kansas City. Players had longer to get to the ballpark and didn't take batting practice on the field prior to a 4:05 Labor Day start with the Tigers.
