HOUSTON, TX -- Former Astro and current Community Outreach Executive Jimmy Wynn will be this week’s guest on the club’s popular Astroline call-in radio show on Wednesday, December 21, at 7:00 p.m. Hosted by Hall of Fame Broadcaster Milo Hamilton, Astroline is broadcast live from Buffalo Wild Wings at 510 Gray Street.

The show is open to the public and airs on the club’s flagship station, KTRH 740 AM. Listeners can call into the show with questions at 713-212-5874. Fans may also send questions to Alyson Footer via Twitter at http://twitter.com/alysonfooter. Astroline is also streamed live at www.astros.com. Archived broadcasts from this year will also be available on the team’s website.

Wynn spent 11 years of his 15-year Major League career with the Houston franchise from 1963-1973. He ranks among the Top 10 in several Astros career hitting categories and led the franchise in hits (1,291), home runs (223) and RBI (719) when he left the club in 1973. Wynn, nicknamed “The Toy Cannon” for his power and strong throwing arm, remains an active member of the Houston community, working closely with the Astros Community Development and Foundation Departments and several charities in the Houston area. His No. 24 was officially retired by the Astros on June 25, 2005. Last June, Wynn was honored by the Houston Astros and Minute Maid, when the two dedicated the Jimmy Wynn Training Center at the Houston Astros MLB Urban Youth Academy in his honor.

Hamilton began his Hall of Fame radio career as a disc jockey on the Armed Forces Radio Network during Thanksgiving week in 1945. The 2012 season will be his 28th season with the Astros and his 59th year broadcasting Major League Baseball.

Wednesday’s Astroline is the fifth of 18 scheduled shows during its five-month run leading into the 2012 baseball season, and the program is broadcast each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The program will move to Florida in March to join the Astros at Spring Training in Kissimmee, FL. Astroline, presented by Budweiser, features interviews, news, and information on the Houston Astros. The show features a different guest each week, ranging from current and former Astros players to front office personnel.
