OPENING WEEK TRAFFIC AND PARKING

Opening Day at PNC Park is one of the most special days of the year in Pittsburgh, and we are excited to welcome you back to the Best Ballpark in America to begin a new season. As we look ahead to our first homestand, including Opening Day, we want to ensure you have the latest information to help plan your visit. There has been a lot of information circulating regarding traffic and parking on the North Shore, but please understand our first homestand will see minimal impact from NFL Draft planning. With that in mind, here is some information to plan your trip.

  • Opening Day at PNC Park is officially sold out, and we are expecting large, energetic crowds throughout our Opening Weekend. As we have in the past, we strongly encourage fans to arrive early and take full advantage of the gameday experience in and around PNC Park. There will be festivities along Federal Street, and we are excited for the addition of the new Plaza at North Shore, which will be open for fans to enjoy as part of the celebration.
  • Waze, a community-based traffic and navigation app, provides fans with the most efficient routes to and from the game.
    • Waze is the only GPS program that has PNC Park parking lots, event day traffic patterns, and street closures incorporated, providing fans with accurate directions to your specific lot with real-time traffic alerts.
  • There are several garages in the downtown area and fans can utilize the free “T” service offered by PRT from the four downtown stations to the North Side Station just outside of PNC Park’s Edgar Snyder & Associates Home Plate Gate.
  • There are minimal lot and road closures, and they are primarily focused on preparations around Acrisure Stadium. Gold 1A, Stage AE lot, and several smaller Red Lots are closed for fan parking. Road closures include Art Rooney Way and West General Robinson Street from Art Rooney Way to Chuck Knoll Way. While this represents a limited impact on parking, fans should plan accordingly.
  • More importantly, there are still a significant number of parking options available on the North Shore, and we have worked with our partners to open the NOVA Place garage to provide additional convenience for our fans. Parking lots on the North Shore are open four hours prior to first pitch.
  • Looking beyond our first homestand, we are working closely with our friends at VisitPITTSBURGH, the NFL, and the Pittsburgh Steelers to minimize traffic and parking impacts related to the NFL Draft for the remainder of our April home games. We will share more detailed plans and guidance following this first homestand.

Our focus will continue to be delivering the best possible gameday experience for our fans, including ensuring they can get to and from the ballpark as smoothly as possible. We will continue to work with our partners to ensure fans can enjoy Pirates baseball throughout April.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you at PNC Park.
