Attended Ball State University from 2018-19...Named 2019 MAC Pitcher of the Year and Second-Team All-American...set a single-season MAC record with 146 strikeouts...Began his collegiate career as a two-way player (outfield and DH) and clocked a 6.28 60-yard dash time as a freshman...Told his head coach, Rich Maloney, he wanted to focus on just pitching early in his first season after hitting his first and only collegiate home run at Western Carolina...Was the second Cardinal to earn MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year honors in 2018 (also: Zach Plesac in 2014)...Looked up to fellow Greenfield, Ind. native and former first-round draft pick, right-handed pitcher Kyle Gibson...Has dunked a basketball standing flat-footed...Is considered as one of the fastest runners in the organization...A natural competitor, he once beat teammate Corbin Carroll in a foot race at instructional league camp in 2020 at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.

2025

Limited to three appearances in his third season with Arizona from April 20-26 in his first year back from Tommy John surgery (2024)...went 0-1 with one save, a 3.00 ERA (one ER in three IP) and three walks...Began the season with Triple-A Reno and was recalled on April 19...his appearance on April 20 @ Cubs (SV; zero ER in one IP) marked his first game in the Majors since July 6, 2023...Recorded his second career save and first since April 4, 2023 at Padres (SV; one ER in two IP, BB, two K)...Made his final appearance with the Aces on May 18 before being placed on the injured list (right elbow inflammation)...Made two rehab appearances with ACL D-backs in late June but was shut down due to a bone fragment chip in his right elbow...In 14 games with Reno, went 0-1 with a 7.11 ERA (10 ER in 12.2 IP), eight walks and 19 strikeouts...Made six appearances for Salt River in the 2025 Arizona Fall League.

Did not pitch due to recovery from right ulnar collateral ligament surgery.

2023

Went 3-1 with a 3.32 ERA (15 ER in 40.2 IP) and 37 strikeouts over 15 games (three starts). In 12 relief appearances, went 3-0 with one save, a 2.81 ERA (10 ER in 32.0 IP) and 29 strikeouts. Earned his first Major League save on April 4 @ Padres, yielding one run in two IP. In his three starts, went 0-1 with a 5.19 ERA (five ER in 8.2 IP) and eight strikeouts. In eight relief appearances at home, went 2-0 with a 2.49 ERA (six ER in 21.2 IP) and 19 strikeouts. Recorded his first Major League win as a reliever on March 31 @ Dodgers after allowing one run in four innings with five strikeouts. Limited opponents to a .233 average (14-for-60) with runners on base…allowed just two extra-base hits and recorded 14 strikeouts. Held opponents to a .158 average (6-for-38) off his slider with 21 strikeouts and a 51.9 whiff percentage. Placed on the 15-day injured list on July 7 (right elbow inflammation) and transferred to the 60-day IL on July 8. Had season-ending Tommy John surgery on Sept. 27 performed by Dr. Keith Meister.

2022

Went 3-0 with a 1.48 ERA (4 ER in 24.1 IP) and 24 strikeouts in four starts in his first Major League season....Won his Major League debut on Sept. 15 vs. Padres (0 ER in 7.0 IP)…became the third D-backs pitcher to make their MLB debut as a starter during the season (also: Tommy Henry on Aug. 3 @ Guardians and Ryne Nelson on Sept. 5 @ Padres)....Went 5-12 with a 6.95 ERA (88 ER in 114.0 IP) in 22 games (21 starts) with Triple-A Reno...Entered the year rated by MLB Pipeline as the D-backs' No. 6 prospect and No. 7 by Baseball America.....Rated by MLB Pipeline as having the Best Changeup among D-backs' farmhands and Baseball America as the Best Athlete and owning the Best Slider.

2021

Combined to go 5-6 with a 3.98 ERA (49 ER in 110.2 IP) and 145 strikeouts in 21 starts with High-A Hillsboro and Double-A Amarillo...Named High-A West Pitcher of the Month for July after going 2-0 with a 1.91 ERA and 35 strikeouts over five starts...Following his promotion to Amarillo on Aug. 5, led the Double-A Central in strikeouts (68) and tied for the most in Minor League Baseball in that span....Finished the year rated by MLB Pipeline as the D-backs' No. 17 prospect and No. 19 by Baseball America....Won the 2021 Minor League Rawlings Gold Glove Award® while splitting time with High-A Hillsboro and Double-A Amarillo.
