Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers and D-backs shortstop Nick Ahmed were recognized as the American League and National League Players of the Week presented by W.B. Mason on Monday, with each winning for the first time in his career.

Past winners: AL | NL

Devers received AL honors after hitting .593/.633/1.185 with three homers, seven doubles and 11 RBIs over six games last week. Against the Indians on Tuesday, he became the first player in Major League history to record six or more hits and four or more doubles in one game.

Devers, 22, is the first Red Sox player to win the award since J.D. Martinez last August. He ranks third in the AL batting race with a .332 average this season, behind the Yankees' DJ LeMahieu (.339) and the Astros' Michael Brantley (.335).

Ahmed, meanwhile, is the second D-back to earn the NL Player of the Week Award in 2019, joining Eduardo Escobar. The 29-year-old hit .423/.464/1.038 with four home runs, a triple, two doubles and 11 RBIs in seven games last week. His home run on Saturday against the Giants gave him 16 on the year, tying his career high.
