Red Sox place third baseman Rafael Devers on 10-day disabled list

Prior to today's game against the Minnesota Twins, the Boston Red Sox placed third baseman Rafael Devers on the 10-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.

Prior to today's game against the Minnesota Twins, the Boston Red Sox placed third baseman Rafael Devers on the 10-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain. To fill Devers' spot on the 25-man roster, the club recalled infielder Tzu-Wei Lin from Triple-A Pawtucket. 
President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.
Devers, 21, has hit .245 (90-for-367) with 15 home runs, 21 doubles, 52 RBI, and 45 runs scored in 96 games for the Red Sox this season, starting 93 of the club's games at third base and one at designated hitter. In 38 games since June 6, he has batted .279 (41-for-147) with a .790 OPS. Devers has hit safely in each of his last five games, going 7-for-19 (.368) in that time. Signed by Boston as an international free agent in 2013, the Dominican native has hit .260 (153-for-589) with 25 home runs and 82 RBI in 154 career big league games. 
Lin, 24, has gone 8-for-44 (.182) with two doubles in 19 games over three stints with Boston this season. He has also hit .315 (62-for-197) with five home runs in 49 games for Pawtucket, including .356 (53-for-149) in his last 36 games. The left-handed batter has hit safely in 30 of his last 31 games with the PawSox, including each of his last 14. Signed by Boston in 2012 as an international free agent, the Taiwanese native has hit .226 (21-for-93) in 41 major league games since his 2017 debut, making 14 starts at shortstop, six at third base, and five at second base.
