Red Sox sign 2nd-round Draft pick Brannen

The Boston Red Sox have signed their second-round Draft pick Cole Brannen, according to MLB.com's Jim Callis, agreeing to an above-slot $1.3 million. The club has not confirmed the signing.
Brannen, the No. 68 Draft prospect per MLBPipeline.com, is a prep outfielder from Georgia with 70-grade speed and a plus glove to go with his 50-grade bat. Boston drafted him 63rd overall and paid him above the recommended $993,900 slot.

Boston was able to afford the larger bonus after signing college seniors in Rounds 8-10 for $5,000 each, which saved $280,900.
The Red Sox have now signed their top two Draft selection after agreeing to a deal at slot value with first-rounder Tanner Houck on Wednesday.
