Red Sox to Open 2021 Season at Fenway Park on April 1 Against Orioles

July 9th, 2020

In conjunction with Major League Baseball, the Red Sox today announced their 2021 regular season schedule, which has the team opening at Fenway Park on Thursday, April 1 for the first of a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles that concludes on Easter Sunday.

This will be the sixth time in 26 years (1996-2021) the Red Sox open the season at home (also ‘02, ’09, ’10, ’17, ’20), and only the second time the club has played at Fenway Park as early as April 1. They also did so in 2002, when they opened the season with a home game against the Blue Jays on April 1.

The Red Sox will face the Yankees in six series during the 2021 season – three weekend series at Fenway Park (June 25-27; July 22-25; September 24-26), and three series at Yankee Stadium (June 4-6; July 15-18; August 17-18).

The club will travel to four National League East ballparks in 2021: Citi Field for a two-game series against the New York Mets (April 27-28); Citizens Bank Park for a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies (May 21-23); Truist Park for a two-game series against the Atlanta Braves (June 15-16); and Nationals Park for a three-game series against the Washington Nationals to end the regular season (October 1-3).

Four National League East teams will make trips to Fenway Park next season: the Atlanta Braves (May 25-26), the Miami Marlins (May 28-30), the Philadelphia Phillies (July 9-11), and the New York Mets (September 21-22).

The Red Sox will play at home on Patriots Day, Monday, April 19, against the Chicago White Sox, and will also be home on Labor Day, Monday, September 6, playing the Tampa Bay Rays.

Game times for the 2021 season, as well as the 2021 Spring Training schedule, will be finalized and announced at a later date. All dates included in the attached schedule are subject to change.
