Colorado Rockies name Warren Schaeffer Hartford Yard Goats manager for 2018

Schaeffer becomes third manager in Yard Goats history

The Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, announced that the Rockies have named Warren Schaeffer as manager for the 2018 season. Schaeffer comes to Hartford after managing the Class-A Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League over the past three seasons. He replaces Jerry Weinstein who managed the Yard Goats in 2017 and will remain with the Rockies organization. The rest of the 2018 Hartford Yard Goats Coaching Staff will be announced at a later date.

"We welcome Warren to the Yard Goats family," Yard Goats President Tim Restall said. "I look forward to working with Warren, and having him be a part of our wonderful community. I know he will love the support and energy that our fans bring to each game at Dunkin' Donuts Park."

Schaeffer, 32, guided the Asheville Tourists to a second place finish in the second half of the South Atlantic League last season. In 2016, he managed the Tourists to a 40-29 record in the second half, a playoff series win, and an appearance in the South Atlantic League Championship Series. The former infielder was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 38th round of the 2007 MLB draft from Virginia Tech University. The Vandergrift, Pennsylvania native played for six seasons (461 games) in the Rockies minor league system and reached Triple-A Colorado Springs in 2011.
