Rockies acquire catcher Brew Butera and cash from Royals

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have acquired catcher Drew Butera and cash considerations from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for left-handed pitcher Jerry Vasto.

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have acquired catcher Drew Butera and cash considerations from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for left-handed pitcher Jerry Vasto.
•  Butera, 35, has batted .188 (28-for-149) with 11 runs scored, nine doubles, two home runs, 18 RBI and 13 walks in 51 games with the Royals this season … in 487 career games across parts of nine seasons with Minnesota (2010-13), Los Angeles-NL (2013-14), Los Angeles-AL (2015) and Kansas City (2015-18), has batted .201 (243-for-1209) with 110 runs, 53 doubles, five triples, 18 home runs, 108 RBI and 80 walks … was originally selected by New York-NL in the fifth round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Central Florida.
Vasto, 26, has made one relief appearance, his Major League debut, across two stints with the Rockies … allowed three runs on three hits with one walk and one strikeout in 0.2 innings pitched vs. Arizona on June 10 … in 37 relief appearances for Triple-A Albuquerque, has gone 2-1 with a 3.16 ERA (37.0 IP, 13 ER), 18 walks and 44 strikeouts … was originally selected by the Rockies in the 24th round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Felician College.
The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
